Rendez-vous à Courmayeur vendredi 26 Août à 9h00 pour commencer une petite ballade autour du Mont Blanc, soit 101 km avec 6100 m de montée.
De gauche à droite, Patrick, Charles, Thomas et Kristof.

Au niveau chaussures, pas de Merrell mais Altra et Salomon.



 Et c'est parti.

A noter une belle éversion du pied droit au même endroit du trail pour Kristof et pour moi...










Une bien belle ballade. Mais un peu chaud quand même.
35% d'abandons.

Dont moi, à Champex, après 14h de course. Je pensais arriver à Champex vers 21h pour avoir un peu le temps de souffler mais en fait je suis arrivé à 23h25, avec juste 5 minutes de marge avant la fermeture.
Inutile de continuer dans la nuit, la montagne et le froid, avec la certitude de ne pas finir dans les temps.
En revanche, mon abandon à juste 56 km et 3400 m de montée m'a permis de rester en pleine forme.

Le lendemain, aucune courbature, et ma douleur dans la hanche et le dos sont partis de manière durable.

Comme quoi, quand on a le bon entrainement et la bonne vitesse, même un vieillard souffreteux et poly-traumatisé peut y arriver.

J'aurais du utiliser mon Ergysport plus tôt (j'ai bu que de l'eau pendant 8h). Donc surement pas au top au niveau électrolytes, et anti-oxydants, BCCA et autres micro-nutriments.

Tant pis, l'important c'est les bonnes sensations et la bonne forme avant, pendant et après.

On a raté l'arrivée des premiers du groupe, Charles et Thomas, même pas fatigués après 23h de course.




Et les bons souvenirs, comme l'arrivée de Kristof, mythique.


 

A 12 kph dans les rues de Cham, j'ai du mal à le suivre avec mon téléphone...

2013 Geneva Half: 21 kms in Huaraches

On May 5, 2013, for the Geneva Half-Marathon, I tested a "long run" in Huaraches, the running sandals of the Tarahumara people. I was not sure whether my legs and especially my calves were strong enough and springy enough to caress the ground for 21 km so I estimated my time between 2h and 2h30. The result was 2h06, i.e. exactly 10 kph and a big smile during and after. This is another step towards a full Marathon in sandals. And before this running "shoes" become a standard, I can seriously show off and the color of the soles and laces attracts girls. They cannot resist asking me where I got my sandals and if they can have the same color. Note the perfect match with the t-shirt I got at the 20 km of Lausanne just a week before.

Trail du Salève 2014

Dimanche 11 May 2014. 35 km, 1900 m ascend, 2200 m descend. 200 participants, 175 finishers. The 1st one did it in 3h11. I finished 172nd after 6h45 of "running". Again, no pain, just pleasure! And super fresh at finish. I even sprinted one last guy before the finish line. Poor guy was totally cooked. Very lucky with the weather, it rained the night and days before, and we had a storm after, but no rain during it. Just very slippery in some places. A very good training for the Eiger Ultra and the Samaria Ultra Kayathlon. And a Bière du Salève as prize. Nice! My Inov-8 Trailroc 235. Probably the best trail shoes around these days with the Merrell Ascend Gloves. Note the cheering crowd!!!   La Grange Gaby: Un point central pour de nombreux trails dans le Salève.
