Test Run Merrell Trail Glove 2

I finally got the chance to test my new Merrell Trail Glove 2. My Trail Glove 1 were getting old, the Vibram sole looked like an old tire, and they were also getting too tight as my feet have grown a bit in length and width over the last 3 years or so.



My excuse to switch from my Xeroshoes Connect 4 mm Huaraches was a forest trail with a lot of sharp pebbles of all sizes, extremely hard to land painlesssly on them.

But with the Trail Gloves, you can feel them all, but no pain whatsoever, no need to slow down to absorb.

This, plus the lacing system and the extra size (44 for my 43 feet), make these shoes the best running shoes for everything, road, trail, mountains, cyties, etc.

The only problem that Merrell needs to address quickly is the total lack of adherence on wet slick surfaces (pavement, rocks, tree logs). In those situations, the shoes can even become dangerous.

Merrell, please, there must be another sole material that is less slippery on wet surfaces. This will make your shoes flawless. In the meantime, I advise everybody to use other shoes when they get a chance to run in those conditions. Use Inov-8 Trailroc or Skechers Gobionic instead.

Fine tuning of my Huaraches

In March, I found a setting to tie my Huaraches and avoid the string rubbing!

I noticed that even though I have a neutral and silent stride and can run miles barefoot, I could not solve the issue of the rubbing of the string between my 1st and 2nd toe.
In fact, the blisters came after 5-8 k, and not between the toes, which would be a sign of overstriding, but BELOW the toes. Plus, I also made a terrible flapping sound when running.

So I checked my stride on video and found that I dorsiflex a lot, i.e. my toes are bent a lot upwards before landing. When I do that when still, I can clearly see the strings touching hard the skin far below the 1st and 2nd toe. OK so that explains the rubbing and the huge blisters in some cases.
Then, I checked on internet photos of sandals worn by the Tarahumaras. Shit, if these guys can run 100 miles in sandals, there must be a solution.
And in some photos I noticed that they wear their sandals with the string between the toes attached more forward that …

Marathon de Genève en mode Yoga, Auto-massage et Tchatche

Départ sans pression, avec pour seul objectif un test des chaussettes FYF. FreeyouFeet, The Swiss Barefoot Company.

They claim that you can run in them. You will see at the end that they have a quite limited view of what running is...



Le but de ce Marathon: Si elles lachent, je prends le bus.

Si je lache, je prends le bus.

Bref, no stress.

Mais si ça passe, c'est de bonne augure pour des courses plus longues, dont la CCC.

Vers 2h00 de course, le bassin bien bloqué. Alors je repère de la pelouse sur le côté et je fais qq Surya Namaskara. Et ça repart. Cela me permet de me faire dépasser par la sucette 4h30, ce qui était mon objectif: Surtout faire plus que 4h30 sinon il y avait un risque de casser ou bloquer qq chose d'encore branlant.




Vers 22 km, je cueille une fleur de lilas pour la humer. Avant de la bazarder, je décide de chercher une fille à qui l'offrir. C'est alors que je vois ces jeunes mariés japonais. Risa est ravie.






Puis je repars, et on rentre dans des chemi…

Première sortie Salève en Huaraches 2017

Pas vite mais sympa. Reprise après un hiver à me trainer comme un sac.


Dernière sortie de mes vieilles Huaraches Xeroshoes. Elles sont un peu usées de la semelle et parfois je recule sur des terrains un peu glissants.
